When thinking of the term "Work from home", many people are still thinking of the old 'getting $1 for every 100 pens that I assemble'. Today though, it is possible to do small jobs right from the comfort of your own computer and still make a nice pocket money, or even a living from this! You are the one who decides how much money you will make by this. Because you are doing small services, you can just say: "Hey, today I want to do five jobs, so I can go play with my kids." That's totally fine. While being out with your kids, you may discover a nice new pair of shoes or a digital camera that you just need to have! Alright, you simply decide to do more work then, spend more time working on your computer and you'll get what you want. That's the beauty of the simple model of working from home. You are in charge. You decide.
So which services could you carry out?
Well, in general these will be what is called freelance services. Services that don't require you to sign a contract with any company. You offer them, customers come to you and ask you to do it, you do the job, deliver the results they would like to have and that's it.
No boss that is getting on your nerves, no colleagues bothering you with their problems, no hassle.
Here are a few examples of small jobs that are carried out a thousand times a day by a lot of people.
Writing an article on a particular subject.
Many people have websites, but miss the expertise or just don't have the time to write content for them. Either you specialize in a certain subject for which you can write great articles or you just research the subjects that you get orders from.
It's not hard to do, but you'll be able to write an article in ten minutes after some practise and probably get paid around $5 for one.
Posting quality blog comments.
There are a lot of websites out there, where you are allowed to leave a comment and enter the address of your website at the same time. Your name will then become a link to the website address you entered.
This is of great value for people who would like to rank well in the search engines. But for high quality comments, you need to read the article and respond to the specific content. This requires time. People are willing to pay good money for this, so why don't you do it for them? For a little compensation of course.
Designing a website logo
Maybe you are interested in graphical design? Well, there are always people out there who require graphical services, for example the designing of a website logo or of a whole website. If you are interested, do a search on the topic, there should be loads of good tutorials on how to do this.
Maybe you will also just design a simple header for the site. If you've done this a few times it should take you 10-15 times max if the user doesn't have any extraordinary wishes.
I personally think this is loads of fun to do, because there really are so many tutorials out there, teaching you whatever you need to know and giving you great success moments very early on.
As a software I'd recommend GIMP. It's not as "pretty" as Photoshop, but it's free and does the same things.

ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of outsourcing companies that you can apply to. Most of the work being offered there are measly jobs that can be learned in a day or two. If you want to work from home properly you should learn what skills are needed to be productive.
ReplyDeleteWhen I hear of Work at Home, I always think of its convenience. Through different outsourcing sites around the Internet, working has never been easier. Work at Home jobs allow you to work at your desired time and you can get out of the inconvenient chairs your office provides you and work at your bed, which is still not recommended because your might fall asleep on your laptop.
